How I dread having to buy new things. We have been forced to replace our old fridge freezer and the new one arrived today. It hasn't even been plugged in yet and the kitchen has already become intolerable for me, the whole room is filled with the smell coming off it. Goodness only knows how much worse it will get when it is plugged in. I know there is no answer to this, my kind husband has washed it out with bicarbonate of soda but it hasn't helped. If anyone has suffered with these things can you say how long it took for them to become tolerable? Like most of you I cope for most of the time but life certainly is challenging for sensitive people, and sometimes it all gets a bit too much. :(

I can now say that it took about three weeks, after which time I was able to tolerate being in the kitchen again.

 Try putting a bowl filled with water and some fresh flower petals in the middle compartment with fridge plugged on so that compressor starts to regulate. Try this for couple of days and smell will dissipate
